Clean Air Zones (CAZ’s) or Low Emission Zones are areas chosen and advised by the government of needing to improve the quality of the air within their boundaries.
Vehicles travelling in and out of these zones which are deemed to be polluting face charges, depending on the size of the vehicle.
How to Apply
In the first instance, most councils are asking anyone who drives in clean air zones to check whether their vehicle will be charged in the zone using the GOV.UK vehicle checker.
If the vehicle is subject to charges, those who drive regularly in the zone should check the terms of the financial scheme and obtain an eligibility letter from the relevant local authorities.
Once evidence of eligibility has been received, you can obtain a quote or start your application for grant-supported and interest-free financing. Complete our enquiry form below and a member of our CAZ team will contact you to discuss your options.
We are currently experiencing very high volumes of applications, and anticipate responding to your message within 15 business days.
All applications are being received via email or our website, and we would ask that you please remain patient and refrain from calling our team as they are unable to process incoming applications via telephone.

Types of Clean Air Zones
There are four classes of Clean Air Zone:
Class A – Buses, coaches, taxis, and private hire vehicles
Class B – Buses, coaches, taxis, PHVs, and heavy goods vehicles (HGVs)
Class C – Buses, coaches, taxis, PHVs, HGVs, and light goods vehicles (LGVs)
Class D – Buses, coaches, taxis, PHVs, HGVs LGVs, and cars
Buses, coaches, and HGVs that meet Euro VI emissions standards must be exempt from any charges or restrictions.
It is generally considered that to travel in and out of a clean air zone without charge, your vehicle needs to be at least:
Euro 4 emission standard compliant petrol model – registered after January 2006 –
Or a diesel, compliant with Euro 6 standards (registered after September 2015).
If your vehicle meets these standards, you may not have to pay any charges, however as every local authority is dealing with the scheme differently, it would be best to check the status of your vehicle on the Government website.

HOW CAN ANGLO SCOTTISH HELP?
Financial Assistance Scheme
To help with the transition to a Clean Air Zone, we have partnered with several local authorities to facilitate financial assistance for limited companies, charities, sole traders, and partnerships to replace existing non-compliant vehicles with a new equivalent that meets the emission standards.
Where financial assistance is available, and subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, organisations can receive a grant towards the new vehicle and benefit from low-rate financing on a hire purchase agreement through us. Check with your local authority if they are offering a financial assistance scheme.
Eligible applicants can receive grants to upgrade taxis, PHVs, and vans heavy goods vehicles, and for buses and coaches. Some private individuals may also be eligible, depending on the local authority scheme (please check with your local council for details).
Support for Replacement Vehicle Funding
With expert knowledge of both personal and commercial vehicle finance solutions, we can help you find the very best finance deal to fund the replacement of your non-compliant vehicles.
In addition to this, we can also aid in sourcing new vehicles, and take trade-ins through our vehicle sourcing team.
