Purchasing goods on finance is a widespread practice, particularly for high-value items that businesses may find challenging to pay for upfront. However, have you ever considered financing less ordinary, specialized, or even outright peculiar items?
It might surprise you, but asset finance isn’t all diggers and tractors, although we do finance a lot of them. We can actually finance almost anything (within reason), and in the past 17 years, we’ve certainly seen our fair share of odd assets.
Here are just a few assets that we’ve financed that may shock you.
Weirdest Assets Funded, Cow Pop
We were starting with one of the strangest deals we financed, Cow Pop.
This is essentially cow slurry converted into energy using renewable sources. Despite its unappealing nature, cow pop biofuel has numerous environmental benefits, and cow pop biofuel can also provide economic advantages, particularly for rural communities where agriculture is a significant industry. Farmers can generate additional income by selling cow slurry to biofuel producers, creating a new revenue stream that supports local economies. This, in turn, fosters a more sustainable agricultural sector and promotes responsible waste management practices.
(No photos of Cow Pop, we really didn’t think you’d want to see it!)
Wine barrels
Beyond being mere containers, wine barrels play a crucial role by infusing oak flavor into the wine. However, their effectiveness in doing so is limited by their lifespan.
Each barrel typically imparts its unique character to the wine for about three to five years before it loses its potency. This means that wineries must regularly invest in new barrels to maintain the quality and complexity of their wines. Financing these barrels can be a significant consideration for both new and established wineries.
Fairground equipment
Financing fun is possible. In the past, we have financed Ferris wheels and even a vintage 1927 fairground organ was purchased through financing by a fortunate business. These instruments, often auctioned, can be quite costly and are highly desired by collectors and fans. Rides and amusements can range in price, with some reaching thousands of pounds, just like this Stranger Things-themed ride.
Beyond the rides and attractions, financing can also support the development of immersive themed environments and state-of-the-art entertainment technology. Imagine walking through a meticulously crafted medieval village, complete with interactive characters and elaborate set pieces, or experiencing a cutting-edge virtual reality adventure that blurs the line between fiction and reality.
In this ever-expanding industry, the possibilities are as boundless as the imagination itself. Financing not only fuels innovation but also preserves the enchantment of amusements, for future generations.
Livestock
It’s possible to finance Livestock covering cows, sheep, pigs, and poultry. Specifically for cows, financing is available for dairy, sucklers, and beef finishers.
Farmers can choose from various loan schemes and leasing options tailored to their specific needs. These financial products are designed to help manage cash flow, invest in high-quality livestock, and improve overall farm productivity. For sheep and pigs, similar financing solutions exist, enabling farmers to expand their herds or flocks, upgrade facilities, and enhance breeding programs.
Software
Many businesses may be surprised to learn that it is possible to use asset finance to purchase software and other technological investments which can significantly enhance a company’s operational efficiency and competitive edge. We’ve previously funded systems such as inventory management systems, CRM systems, and cloud software for phones and account systems.
By leveraging asset finance, businesses can acquire the latest technology without the immediate financial burden of outright purchases. This approach allows for better cash flow management and the ability to spread costs over time, making it easier for companies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market.
Horse/water treadmill
Another Unique Investment: Equine Saltwater Treadmill Priced at a significant £200,000, this treadmill stands out from typical gym equipment.
the treadmill’s design allows horses to exercise in a low-impact environment, reducing the risk of further injury while promoting faster recovery. The saltwater aspect adds therapeutic benefits, aiding in the treatment of joint issues and soft tissue injuries. Furthermore, the resistance provided by the water helps to build strength and endurance gently
Aside from rehabilitation, equine saltwater treadmills are also beneficial for maintaining the fitness of performance horses. Regular sessions can improve cardiovascular health and overall conditioning, making them a valuable asset for competitive equestrians. The initial investment might seem steep, but the long-term benefits for the horse’s health and performance can justify the cost.
The world of financing today is not just about securing funds; it’s about creating opportunities for growth, stability, and innovation. With the right financial strategy, businesses can navigate challenges and seize opportunities, paving the way for a prosperous future.
